Asians UK delighted to share the Bradford Curry Awards are back, and they’re bigger and better than ever. In addition there is a two-day British Asians Mela leading up to the prestigious awards ceremony.
The two-day Mela will take place across Centenary Square on Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24. Following this there will be an awards ceremony on Monday, July 25, at the Bradford Hotel. A must for all British Asians and curry lovers across the UK.
The Curry Mela will feature an exciting array of food stalls and entertainment. Furthermore, masterclasses with renowned chefs will show visitors how they create their much-loved traditional dishes and burgeoning fusion blends. This Mela is a free event, but masterclasses should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.
There will also be a heritage area, where visitors will see the original menus and recipes used. MyLahore restaurant is celebrating 20 years in business and Aagrah marking 45 years of success.
The awards will bring together curry lovers to celebrate this rich heritage, highlighting the finest examples of South Asian cuisine. The prestigious awards night will bring together the crème-de-la-crème of Bradford’s booming curry industry. It is a wider celebration of the city’s vibrant Asian culture and the culinary craftsmanship that goes into making Bradford the curry capital of Britain.
From recognising the best restaurants to the best dishes, the Bradford Curry Awards will also honor the unsung heroes who work hard behind the scenes. These chefs ensure locals and tourists alike have the most amazing selection of food.
In 2018 Fatima Patel, the founder, and editor of Asian Standard newspaper caused a frenzy by launching the Bradford Curry Awards; making history by bringing together leaders from the city’s sizable curry sector for the first time under one roof to celebrate the half-billion-pound industry.
“This year we are adding a two-day curry Mela before the lead-up to the curry awards, because people need a reason to come together, after the tumultuous two years of lockdown – and what better way than food? The Curry Mela is a great way to remind people that we are food lovers and through the language of food, we can celebrate our heritage and culture in unity.”

“It’s an honour to be part of a ground-breaking event that’s coming hot on the heels of Bradford winning the UK City of Culture 2025. It’s a really exciting time and we’re sure this is going to be a great event for Bradford and the north region.”
